Queens Park Rangers insist that Neil Warnock has not stepped down as manager.

Queens Park Rangers have insisted that Neil Warnock has not stepped down as manager.

Yesterday it was reported that Peterborough’s Craig Mackail-Smith had refused a transfer to Loftus Road when Warnock had failed to assure him that he would still be manager next season.

“The club would like to make it clear that Neil Warnock has not resigned from his post and is continuing to work hard behind the scenes ahead of the Rs’ return to pre-season training next week,” read a statement on QPR’s website.

“With regards to my own situation, I’m really excited about the challenge that lies ahead next season and I can’t wait for pre-season training next week,” added Warnock.

The 62-year-old will steer the team as they take a place in the top flight for the first time since 1996.
