The Premier League announce that there will be no pre-match handshake between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

The Premier League have announced that there will be no pre-match handshake between Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

The two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

There had been doubts over whether the traditional gesture would take place after Chelsea captain John Terry was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service over making alleged racist remarks towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a match in October. Terry denies the charge.

The Premier League came to the decision "after discussions with Chelsea and QPR about the potential and specific legal context in relation to Terry and Ferdinand".

Terry is due to stand trial for the racially aggravated offence after Euro 2012 on Monday, July 9.
