Chris Ramsey welcomes "big boost"

QPR coach Chris Ramsey says that his side will have received a "big boost" in their relegation battle after thumping West Brom 4-1.

Manager Chris Ramsey has said that Queens Park Rangers' 4-1 win away to West Bromwich Albion will provide a "big boost" in their relegation battle.

First-half goals from Eduardo Vargas, Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora helped Rangers into a 3-0 lead at The Hawthorns, before Joey Barton added a fourth late on after Victor Anichebe reduced the arrears.

Victory lifted Ramsey's side to within one point of safety, and the QPR boss hopes that the result proves a watershed moment as the team continues to battle for their top-flight status.

"It's going to be a big boost, when you're getting beaten every week and performing well sometimes it's hard to see a way out," he told reporters.

"The players are keeping faith. We knew it was going to be very difficult to get any sort of result here but goals always lift any team's confidence.

"We've been close to that, it wasn't our best performance, it was a good performance, but we performed similar to that against Everton. We just haven't taken the chances in the same way."

QPR travel to fellow strugglers Aston Villa on Tuesday.
