Gareth Ainsworth: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink a "very good" choice for QPR

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Gareth Ainsworth backs Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to take over at the club after 'earning the right' to manage at Championship level.

Gareth Ainsworth has claimed that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would be a big success at Queens Park Rangers should he be appointed.

The Dutchman has been linked with the vacant position at Loftus Road, but current club Burton Albion - whom he guided to League One last term - insist that no official approach has yet been made.

Former QPR player Ainsworth believes that his managerial counterpart, touted with a number of Championship jobs in the past, would be a "very good" choice for the R's if they were willing to take a punt.

Get West London quotes him as saying: "I believe Jimmy is a great person and a great man. He has earned the right and the respect to manage a big club, and QPR are a big club who are still close to my heart - I still look out for their results.

"I know Jimmy personally and I stood in the next dugout to him on a couple of occasions last season. He did a great job at Burton last season, getting them playing some attractive football, and he would be a very good manager for QPR if he gets the job."

Neil Warnock has been placed in charge of QPR on an interim basis until a new man is brought in.
