Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Toulouse

PSG move up to third in the French league after goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Javier Pastore give them a two-goal win over Toulouse.

Paris Saint-Germain have moved into third in Ligue 1 after a 2-0 victory over Toulouse this evening.

The first real chance of the game came after eight minutes, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic escaped the defence only to hit his shot straight at Ali Ahamada.

PSG continued to press but could not create and clear chances and it was Toulouse who almost went ahead, but Franck Tabanou's effort was saved by Salvatore Sirigu.

The home team found the breakthrough just before half-time. Marco Verratti chipped the ball over the stationary Toulouse defence, which had stopped in expectation of the linesman's flag. Javier Pastore was able to capitalise as he ran past the offside Ibrahimovic to knock the ball over Ahamada.

After the break PSG continued to dominate possession without creating any great chances.

On 52 minutes, Ibrahimovic seemed to have had enough, unleashing a powerful drive from over 30 yards out, but Ahamada was able to get everything behind it.

Toulouse came back into the game as the half wore on but were unable to create many clear opportunities.

They were undone on the counter-attack though when Pastore put Menez clean through before the winger squared the ball for Ibrahimovic to tap in and make it 2-0.

PSG nearly added a third five minutes from the end, but Alex's powerful header was cleared off the line by Steeve Yago.

The home team were comfortable with their two-goal victory and will now turn their attentions to the start of the Champions League next week.
