How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Le Mans

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for their Coupe de la Ligue clash with Le Mans on Wednesday.

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain visit Ligue 2 outfit Le Mans in their first Coupe de la Ligue game of the season.

The relegation-threatened second-division side will not be relishing the prospect of facing a PSG outfit that have hit a whopping 39 goals in just 17 league outings this term.

The reigning French champions boast a seven-point gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table and will be keen to add further domestic silverware to their expected league title.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how PSG could line up for Wednesday's showdown.

Out: Ander Herrera (thigh), Presnel Kimpembe (thigh), Idrissa Gana Gueye (thigh), Julian Draxler (illness)
Doubtful: None

Thomas Tuchel may use this opportunity to rotate some of his squad and give a few players a well-earned rest against a struggling lower-division side.

Sergio Rico could come in for Keylor Navas between the sticks to make just his third start of the campaign in a third different competition.

Across the back four, Colin Dagba, Layvin Kurzawa, Thilo Kehrer and Tanguy Kouassi could replace Thomas Meunier, Juan Bernat, Thiago Silva and Abdou Diallo respectively. Kehrer is just returning from an injury, while Kouassi could be one of the few youngsters given an opportunity in a star-studded squad, given Kimpembe's absence, with Dabga already having made his mark on the first team.

Tuchel could persist with the attacking 4-2-2-2 shape he utilised in their last game - a 4-0 win over 10-man Saint-Etienne - with Leandro Paredes and Pablo Sarabia forming the base of a gung-ho lineup and allowing Marquinhos to be rested.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe may keep their places in pursuit of personal goal tallies and could flank Edinson Cavani and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in a front four that will look to blow their inferior opponents away.
