Paolo Maldini is lined up by Paris Saint-Germain as a potential replacement for outgoing technical director Leonardo, according to a report.

Former AC Milan and Italy defender Paolo Maldini is reportedly on a shortlist of potential replacements for Leonardo as technical director at Paris Saint-Germain.

Maldini has been out of football since retiring in 2009, but was a guest of Paris-Saint Germain at Wednesday's Champions League clash with Benfica.

The 45-year-old has held preliminary talks with PSG's Qatari owners and is now considering the possibility of taking up a senior position with the Ligue 1 giants, according to Corriere della Sera.

PSG have been actively seeking a new sporting director since Leonardo offered his resignation in July, with the Brazilian expected to step down once a suitable replacement has been found.

During a 24-year playing career, Maldini captained both club and country, playing more than 900 times for Milan alongside 126 international caps.

Luis Figo is pelted with lighters and coins as he prepares to take a corner.
