Half-Time Report: Edinson Cavani double sends Paris Saint-Germain on their way

Edinson Cavani bags a first-half brace as Paris Saint-Germain record a comfortable 2-0 half-time lead over Lyon in the Coupe de la Ligue final.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions needed just four minutes to take the lead as the Uruguay hitman collected a Maxwell pass before slotting beyond goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

There was a moment of controversy on the half-hour mark, however, as les Parisiens were awarded a penalty after Lopes appeared to foul Lucas Moura outside the box.

Nevertheless, Cavani stepped up and kept his cool from 12 yards to secure his and his team's second of the evening on 32 minutes.

With Lyon still aggrieved over the decision, PSG sought to kill off the encounter minutes later and almost proved successful but, after receiving Lucas's cut-back pass, Cavani fired over the bar and missed the chance to seal a first-half hat-trick.
