Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo believes that Germany can win Euro 2012 ahead of Saturday's Group B match in Lviv.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that Germany are "strong contenders" to win Euro 2012 ahead of Saturday's Group B encounter in Lviv.

The two sides meet for the first time since Germany ran out 3-2 winners in their Euro 2008 quarter-final in Basel.

"We are here to compete against one of the strongest teams of the tournament," Ronaldo told reporters. "We want to compete and enjoy this. I am confident that we will play a great game.

"Germany are strong contenders for the Euro title. They have shown that they are an excellent side, with great players. Germany are not solely based on individual talent."

The Netherlands take on Denmark in the day's other Group B match.
