Half-Time Report: Alexander MacDonald gives Burton Albion lead at the break

Alexander MacDonald scores on the half-hour mark to put Burton Albion ahead against his former club Plymouth Argyle in League Two action.

Alexander MacDonald has broken the deadlock at the Pirelli Stadium, scoring against his former club to give Burton Albion the lead against Plymouth Argyle.

The hosts had a several shots at the Pilgrims' goal, but failed to test Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick early on.

Plymouth too had a number of attempts, but ultimately struggled to get any of their chances on target in 45 minutes of poor-quality League Two football.

The breakthrough came on the half-hour mark as Stuart Beavon found MacDonald in the centre of the box, and he finished neatly with his left foot.

Burton continued to mount pressure on the visitors, but were unable to double their lead before the interval.
