Philadelphia Union 1-2 Colorado Rapids

Colorado Rapids record a 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union in the MLS on Sunday.

Colorado Rapids have recorded a 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union in the MLS on Sunday.

It was Philadelphia who started the better and they might have had a penalty barely a minute into the match when it seemed as if Danny Mwanga had been clipped in the area, but the referee waved play on.

Chances were few and far between in a tight opening half of football, with Mwanga looking the most likely for the home side.

Michael Farfan also came close for the home side before the break, but his effort just drifted wide of the post.

Colorado started the second period the stronger, however, and took the lead after 56 minutes when Jaime Castrillon found a cool finish inside the area.

The away side were reduced to ten men after 58 minutes when Jeff Larentowicz was given a red card, but they moved 2-0 ahead through Tony Cascio after 62 minutes.

The home side pulled a goal back through Lionard Pajoy after 67 minutes, but they could not muster a late comeback as Colorado held on for all three points.
