Michael Mancienne: 'We must rediscover fighting spirit'

Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne says that the team must rediscover the qualities that they were showing earlier in the season.

Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne has insisted that the team must get back to the standards that they were setting earlier in the season.

The Reds have fallen from first to 10th in the the Championship table following a run of eight games without a win.

Forest were beaten 3-0 at Huddersfield Town on Saturday and Mancienne says that Stuart Pearce's men must bring their previous qualities back into their performances.

"We need the team spirit, we need the togetherness – if we can find that, this run will not continue, because we do have quality," he told the Nottingham Post.

"We need to get back to the fighting spirit we had at the start of the season when we did not look like a side who would be beaten. We had a real desire not to concede goals and a fierce determination not to lose games. We need to get that going again.

"As I said before, we just have to get back to basics. We have to keep things tight, take no risks and just be solid at the back. It is important to start the game well and we did not here. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb."

Forest host Brentford at the City Ground on Wednesday evening.
