Norwich City comfortably see off Bournemouth

Norwich City ease past Bournemouth with a 3-1 win to secure their first home victory of the season at Carrow Road.

Norwich City have beaten Bournemouth 3-1 thanks to goals from Cameron Jerome, Wes Hoolahan and Matt Jarvis in the Premier League clash between the two promoted sides at Carrow Road.

Both sides started slowly but it was the hosts who had the first chance of the half when Robbie Brady's cross was cleared only to the edge of the penalty area, and Alexander Tettey sent a powerful volley over the crossbar.

Bournemouth only carved out their first real opportunity on the half-hour mark when a neat passing move ended with Josh King dinking a ball over the top for Junior Stanislas to run on to, but a last-ditch tackle from Brady prevented the winger pulling the trigger.

Jerome had a good opportunity just minutes later when he hit the side-netting after he was slipped in by Hoolahan, but the same combination yielded an opener four minutes later when the midfielder beat his man down the right to break into the box and slide in Jerome to tap home.

Bournemouth came within inches of an equaliser in first-half injury time when Callum Wilson flicked Tommy Elphick's header onto the post, and Stanislas curled wide shortly after the break, but Norwich doubled their advantage after 52 minutes.

Just after Jerome flashed a shot wide, Hoolahan got his own name on the scoresheet when he was given yards of space to run towards the Cherries' box and pick his spot to hand his side a two-goal cushion.

The Canaries continued their onslaught after the second and Brady came close to adding a third when he hit the post after exchanging passes with Jonny Howson in midfield.

It was three just two minutes later, however, as on-loan winger Jarvis marked his Norwich debut with a goal when he cut back onto his left foot and smashed past Artur Boruc after 67 minutes.

Steve Cook headed Matt Ritchie's cross past John Ruddy to spoil Norwich's clean sheet and give Bournemouth something to cheer with nine minutes remaining, but the damage had already been done as the visitors lost for a third time this season.
