Norwich City consider Tony Popovic approach?

Reports in Australia suggest that Tony Popovic is a contender to take charge of Norwich City.

Norwich City have reportedly given consideration to making an approach to Western Sydney Wanderers for their manager Tony Popovic.

The Canaries, who were relegated to the Championship on Sunday, have been without a boss since Chris Hughton was sacked last month, while interim manager Neil Adams is not expected to be given the job on a permanent basis.

The likes of Neil Lennon and Malky Mackay have been linked with the vacancy, but according to reports in Australia, 40-year-old Popovic has materialised as a strong candidate to take charge at Carrow Road.

During his playing career, centre-back Popovic spent five years with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, where he was also the assistant to Dougie Freedman for 15 months.

More recently, the Sydney-born manager has guided the Wanderers to two A-League Grand Finals and the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League.
