Russell Martin tips Alex Neil for Scotland job

Scotland defender Russell Martin believes that his Norwich City manager Alex Neil will go on to manage the national team in the future.

Norwich City defender Russell Martin has expressed his belief that Canaries boss Alex Neil will go on to manage Scotland in the future.

The 33-year-old has revived the Norfolk club's fortunes in the Championship since arriving from Hamilton Academicals in January.

Scotland international Martin admits that the players have been won over by Neil, who has taken Norwich into the playoff places.

"I can see Alex Neil as a future Scotland manager, for sure," Martin told The Courier.

"I am sure he will have aspirations to manage at the highest level and he has all the attributes. He is doing really well in the Championship with us and his stock is on the rise.

"I think we will go up to the Premiership but, even if we don't, his stock will continue to be on the up. He is extremely young so if he does want to be Scotland manager one day I am sure it will be well into the future."

Neil has won 10 of 15 games in charge of Norwich so far.
