Half-Time Report: Nathan Redmond brings Norwich City level at the break

Norwich City pull back level at 1-1 at half time against Brentford in the Championship, as Nathan Redmond's goal cancels out an opener from Jota.

Nathan Redmond's deflected effort has pulled Norwich City level at 1-1 with Brentford at half time in the Championship this afternoon.

An early goal from playmaker Jota had originally given the Bees a lead against their playoff rivals.

Brentford should have gone ahead even earlier when Alex Pritchard carved out a perfect through ball for Andre Gray, but the striker was thwarted by a bobble in the pitch as his effort flew high and wide.

Back came Norwich, though, as Redmond whipped a ball across the pitch to find the rampaging Gary Hooper, who was unable to beat David Button down at his bottom-left corner.

Pritchard looked enterprising in the first period and he was on hand again to pick out Brentford's Stuart Dallas in the box, but he could only lash his effort over the bar from inside the area.

The visitors took the lead in the 21st minute and it came via a perfectly-worked team effort, which started when Gray broke away before finding Jota, who produced a tidy finish into the bottom corner past John Ruddy.

Their lead was not to last too long, though, as Redmond equalised in the 27th minute with a deflected shot that evaded Button and nestled into the bottom corner.
