Goal-line technology could be available for the 2012-13 season if approved by FIFA in March.

A decision on whether goal-line technology will be authorised is expected to be made next March.

If the International Football Association Board approve a system it will be brought into law on July 1, 2012, in time for the start of the 2012-13 Premier League season.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter said: "We will have on the next international board at the beginning of March next year a final decision on goal-line technology.

"If it will prove to be accurate and to be affordable, then it is possible the international board will decide goal-line technology shall be introduced for the World Cup 2014."

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has said that he wants the technology in England's top division as soon as possible.

"I would like to have it the season after next - next season is too early but certainly the season after next, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't," said Scudamore.
