Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa's agent insists that he is not preparing to join Qatari club Lekhwiya this summer.

Hatem Ben Arfa's agent has described reports that the Newcastle United winger could be preparing to make a move to Qatar as "false".

The 27-year-old was linked with a big money move to Qatari club Lekhwiya at the weekend, having failed to secure a regular place in the Magpies' first team last season.

However, Michael Ouazine told L'Equipe: "This is false. He has one year left on his Newcastle contract and intends to continue to play in Europe."

Ben Arfa joined the club from Ligue 1 side Marseille in 2010.
