Alan Pardew defiant after latest Newcastle United disappointment

Alan Pardew insists that he is up for the fight after watching Newcastle United suffer a 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Monday night.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has reacted to his team's 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Monday night by insisting that he will keep fighting to get the fans back on his side.

Large sections of the travelling supporters at the Britannia Stadium targeted Pardew with criticism throughout the game, but he refused to cast doubt on his position at the club.

"It leaves us in a position when we're in the bottom three, and we've got to fight," the Newcastle boss told Sky Sports News. "I have to fight, the team has to fight, and that's what we'll continue to do until we can turn it around.

"I think it's important to show to the team that I'm here to lead the team, and that's what I'll do. I've never really been in this situation before. It's a bit unique, but I'm a professional football manager and that's what I'll do and continue to do."

Newcastle remain 19th in the Premier League table with three points from six games.
