Alan Pardew "sad to see" Joe Kinnear leave

Alan Pardew admits that it was disappointing to see director of football Joe Kinnear leave the club this week.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed his disappointment at seeing Joe Kinnear leave the club, having resigned from his post as director of football on Monday.

Pardew said that Kinnear did plenty of positive things for the club, but that the important thing now was that the Magpies move on with their season.

"I'm just sad to see anybody lose their job, as Joe has," BBC Sport quotes Pardew as saying. "He did a lot of good work here.

"But that decision was the board's decision and we have to now work towards getting us and our position in the league more secure. My job is actually the next game and that's what I'm focusing on."

Newcastle travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
