Newcastle United's Chancel Mbemba: "We definitely deserved to win"

Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba feels that his side did enough to take all three points from their Premier League clash against Stoke City at St James' Park.

Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba has said that his side "deserved to win" their Premier League clash against Stoke City.

The Magpies were denied their second victory of the season by a fine goalkeeping performance from Jack Butland as he made several good stops over the course of the contest to earn the Potters a point at St James' Park.

Mbemba told the club's official website: "Drawing was tough. We have to accept the result as it is but we are not happy with it, obviously.

"We put in a great performance out there and made a lot of chances but just couldn't put any of them away, and that's what we need to work on. We definitely deserved to win the game, not draw.

"All the luck was on his [Butland's] side. He performed magnificently and kept out every chance we created. We tried hard and kept coming at him but he saved everything. We did the best we could against him."

Newcastle are 18th in the Premier League after 11 matches this season.
