Daryl Janmaat: 'Newcastle United form will get me back in Netherlands squad'

Daryl Janmaat believes that his form at Newcastle United will see him earn back his place in the Netherlands squad.

Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat is not worrying about being left out of Guus Hiddink's Netherlands squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia tomorrow.

The Newcastle United right-back has been in sparkling form in recent weeks, producing both assists in the Magpies' win over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, their fifth on the bounce in the Premier League.

Though that performance was not enough to reclaim his place in the squad, the 25-year-old believes that his domestic form will make it hard for Hiddink to ignore him.

"I think form like what I'm showing at Newcastle will get me back in the squad," he is quoted as saying by the Northern Echo. "It was nice to get two assists at West Brom. I like to get down the line and send crosses in, that's one of my strengths, so to see those crosses end up in the net is fantastic. That's what makes it worthwhile.

"In terms of calibre we might not be at the calibre of the teams at the top but in terms of the size of the club we definitely are. Newcastle United are big, definitely comparable to Feyenoord.

"I have no regrets about my transfer. I am sure that this move has been good for me in every respect."

Holland are currently six points behind Iceland and the Czech Republic in their Euro 2016 group ahead of tomorrow's game with Latvia.
