Robin van Persie: 'Ruud van Nistelrooy key to improving my game'

Manchester United and Netherlands striker Robin van Persie admits that Ruud van Nistelrooy is key to helping him improve his game for club and country.

Manchester United and Netherlands striker Robin van Persie has revealed that he is getting help from national coach and former Red Devil Ruud van Nistelrooy in a bid to improve on his game.

The 31-year-old forward, who helped the Dutch national team to third place in this year's World Cup, believes that his compatriot's attention to detail can help him become even more lethal in front of goal.

Van Persie told the Manchester Evening News: "If there is anyone in this football world who can still teach me stuff, than it is strikers of the calibre of Ruud or Patrick Kluivert.

"Ruud points out vital details of the art of finishing. With Holland, I missed a chance against Italy on Friday night.

"He had noticed in the slow motion of the video that my shoulders were not pointing exactly towards the goal when I took the ball in a volley from the corner of the box. He was dead right. The ball was doing what my body was guiding to do. Next time I have to get that detail right again."

Van Persie is the Netherlands' all-time top scorer, with 47 goals in 91 appearances.
