Klaas-Jan Huntelaar eager to impress in Netherlands shirt

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar says that he aims to impress whenever he is given the opportunity to do so for the Netherlands after scoring off the bench against Kazakhstan.

Netherlands striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is targeting a starting spot following his impressive display against Kazakhstan.

The 31-year-old helped draw his side level against the European minnows on Friday night after being introduced as a second-half substitute, as the Oranje went on to record a 3-1 victory in Amsterdam.

Following his eye-catching performance from the bench, Huntelaar is now looking to make the most of any opportunities that he is given.

"If it was up to me, obviously I would start every game, but that decision is up to the coach," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "The important thing is always to be sharp and score when the opportunity arises. When the spaces are small, the crosses have to be good.

"I always want to score as quickly as possible, whether I am in the starting lineup or playing as a substitute. It was important to score fast, so there was still time to score a second."

The Netherlands face Iceland on Monday as they aim to pick up their second win of Euro 2016 qualification.
