Danny Blind to remain in charge of Netherlands

The Royal Dutch Football Association confirms that Danny Blind will remain Netherlands head coach even if the team fails to qualify for Euro 2016.

The Royal Dutch Football Association has confirmed that Danny Blind will remain Netherlands head coach even if they fail to qualify for Euro 2016.

The Dutch are on the brink of missing out on qualification for a major tournament for the first time in 14 years. They need to beat Czech Republic in Amsterdam tonight and hope that Turkey lose at home to already-qualified Iceland for them to claim third place in Group A and with it a playoff spot.

Blind took charge of the side in July after Guus Hiddink stepped down, and KNVB director Bert van Oostveen has insisted that no rash decisions will be made on the 52-year-old's future should the team fail to make it to next summer's tournament in France.

"We are not going to do anything crazy. After the match against the Czech Republic Danny will also be on the bench, whether it's during a playoff duel or during an exhibition game, it does not matter," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"He has a contract until the 2018 and sometime in 2016 we have an evaluation. We find that Danny is doing well and he can count on support from the KNVB and he should also receive the Dutch people."

Blind has won one of this three games in charge so far.
