Diego Maradona has claimed that Napoli are more than capable of winning the Italian Serie A title.

The Partenopei are only two points behind league leaders Juventus and they have a head-to-head clash coming up next month in Turin.

Maradona is venerated in Naples for helping the Partenopei to two Scudetti, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana and a UEFA Cup between 1984 and 1991, and the Argentine says that the current team reminds him of his own.

"Napoli can do it," Maradona told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I believe in the Scudetto, I believe in Neapolitans and I believe in this team. At times, this side reminds me of my Napoli."

Despite not having won a Scudetto since 1990, Napoli won two Coppa Italia trophies and a Supercoppa Italiana between 2012 and 2014.
