Stephen Pearson signs two-year contract extension at Motherwell

Former Celtic and Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson extends his current deal with Scottish Premiership club Motherwell until 2017.

Former Celtic and Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson has signed a two-year contract extension with Motherwell.

The 32-year-old Scotland international started his second spell at Fir Park in January and has now committed his future at the Scottish Premiership outfit until 2017.

Pearson's original contract was up at the end of this season but he told BBC Sport: "I am really pleased we have got this all done and dusted so early. I'm delighted to be staying."

Pearson came through the youth ranks at Motherwell before moving to Celtic in 2004, and has also played for a number of other clubs including Stoke City, Bristol City and India's Kerala Blasters.
