Report: Alessandro Nesta to become Montreal Impact coach

Reports suggest that Alessandro Nesta is about to replace Marco Schallibaum as manager of Montreal Impact.

Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has replaced Marco Schallibaum at the helm of MLS side Montreal Impact, according to a report.

The 37-year-old joined the Canadian side last year following a 10-year spell with the Rossoneri, laden with two Scudettos, two Champions League titles and a Coppa Italia winners' medal.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Italian international, who announced his retirement as a player in October, will take over from Schallibaum, whose one-year contract was not renewed.

The Impact faltered towards the end of the MLS campaign, and were eventually knocked out of the playoffs by Houston Dynamo.

Schallibaum, 51, had been in charge since January.
