MK Dons agree deal for Alan Smith
Newcastle United midfielder Alan Smith is on the verge of completing a loan move to MK Dons, according to The Sun.
The former England midfielder, 31, has just six months left on his £60,000-a-week contract with the Magpies and has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season.
It is understood that Newcastle will continue to pay the bulk of his salary, with the Dons paying the remainder.
Smith has reportedly been impressed with the League One promotion chasers this season, and could join the club on a permanent basis if they are promoted to the Championship in the summer.
Smith, who has also played for Leeds and Manchester United, has 45 Premier League goals to his name.
