Team News: Five changes for Southampton at MK Dons

Southampton make five changes to the team which lost 3-2 to Manchester United on Sunday for the trip to MK Dons in the League Cup third round.

Southampton have made five changes from the team which lost 3-2 to Manchester United on Sunday for the trip to MK Dons in the League Cup third round.

Cedric Soares has replaced Maya Yoshida in defence, while Steven Davis and summer signing Juanmi come into the midfield in place of Victor Wanyama and James Ward-Prowse.

Jay Rodriguez partners Sadio Mane in playing off Shane Long in attack, with top scorer Graziano Pelle not in the squad at all and Dusan Tadic dropping to the bench alongside Wanyama, Ward-Prowse and Yoshida.

Ryan Bertrand is fit enough only for a substitute's berth after failing to feature so far this season through injury.

For the hosts, Simon Church is called into the attack from the start after coming off the bench to score in the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at the weekend.

Southampton: Stekelenburg; Soares, Fonte, van Dijk, Targett; Romeu, S. Davis, Juanmi; Rodriguez, Mane, Long
