Danny Shittu apologises to Millwall fans after Derby County thrashing

Milllwall captain Danny Shittu apologises to fans of the club following this afternoon's heavy defeat at home to Derby County.

Millwall captain Danny Shittu has apologised to the club's fans after they were beaten 5-1 at home by Derby County in the Championship this afternoon.

The Lions are yet to win a game in the league this season and their latest defeat leaves them bottom of the table with just two points.

"Every player and every member of the back-room staff in that dressing room is desperately disappointed after that game. Not one person is going to go away from here not hurting," he told the club's official website.

"We've already had a long chat about it, and we'll be in on Sunday and Monday, working on the training ground to put right the things that went wrong against Derby.

"We're not letting our heads go down, though. We've got another home game on Tuesday night, and we have to be ready to put in a much better display in that game and get that first League win we desperately need."

Millwall host Championship leaders Blackpool in their next league match on September 17.
