Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given on a month-long loan deal.

The 37-year-old has linked up with the Championship club on a short-term basis to cover Jason Steele's three-match suspension.

Given has not featured for his parent club this season, after slipping down the pecking order at Villa Park behind Brad Guzan and Jed Steer.

The former Newcastle United stopper could make his Middlesbrough debut in Saturday's match with Bolton Wanderers.
