Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka: 'I had faith in our attack'

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka states that he had full confidence in his team's ability to score against Charlton Athletic, despite a goalless first half.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has revealed that he retained belief that Middlesbrough would find the back of the net against Charlton Athletic, despite a goalless first half.

David Nugent, Albert Adomah and Daniel Ayala all netted in the second period to hand the 42-year-old's side a 3-0 victory.

"I said on Friday that it was going to be a difficult game because everybody is coming here to stop us playing and we have to know that," Karanka told the club's official website following the victory.

"I told the players at half time that we had to keep going in the same way. We couldn't drop the tempo of the game for one second because we needed to play with the same intensity.

"We knew we had to keep playing with the same intensity because with the quality we have, playing at home with seven different players from the game on Wednesday, I was sure that we were going to score a goal."

Boro remain in fourth position in the Championship table with the win, ahead of their midweek fixture against Rotherham United.
