Marcelo Bielsa: 'Win over Toulouse will be a huge confidence boost'

Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa suggests that his side's emphatic 6-1 victory over Toulouse will provide them with a huge boost in confidence in the Ligue 1 title race.

Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that Marseille's 6-1 victory over Toulouse will provide the title hopefuls with a boost in confidence.

Marseille furthered their ambitions to battle Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 crown thanks to the emphatic away win, with Bielsa's charges bagging four goals in the first half at the Stadium Municipal.

"We were very effective and that's what made the difference because Toulouse also created chances but didn't take them," said Bielsa, according to the official Ligue 1 website.

"The final scoreline was pretty heavy and not necessarily indicative despite the fact that we deserved the win.

"But it's not a message to Lyon or Paris; it's biggest importance is for us. Scoring that many goals is a huge confidence boost."

Marseille currently hold third place in the league standings, with 53 points from 28 games.
