A report claims that Arsenal will not sanction Thomas Vermaelen's move to Manchester United until they can find a replacement for the defender.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly delayed Thomas Vermaelen's proposed switch to Manchester United.

It is believed that the Belgian international is keen to swap Arsenal for Old Trafford, with United believed to be willing to pay around £10m for the centre-back.

Wenger has accepted the 28-year-old's desire to switch clubs, but will not allow him to depart until he can sign a replacement, according to Goal.com.

The report adds that the French boss would prefer to secure the services of a defender with previous Premier League experience.
