Marco Silva: "Many offers" received for William Carvalho

Sporting Lisbon boss Marco Silva refuses to rule out a January exit for in-demand midfielder William Carvalho.

Sporting Lisbon manager Marco Silva has revealed that the club has received "many offers" for midfielder William Carvalho.

The 22-year-old, whose current contract is said to contain a £37m release clause, has been linked extensively with a move to the Premier League in the past 12 months.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among those to have reportedly shown an interest in the Portuguese, and Silva has refused to rule out the possibility of his star player moving on in January.

"William is a target for English teams, but I want him to play his game," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"He's not playing at the same level as last season because last season he was a surprise, but he's improving. William has many offers. Let's wait until January."

Sporting take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening in the final round of Champions League group-stage fixtures.
