Paul Ince urges Man Utd to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic over Mario Mandzukic

Paul Ince urges his former side Manchester United to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic rather than Mario Mandzukic in January.

Paul Ince has urged his former side Manchester United to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic rather than Juventus's Mario Mandzukic in January.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with picking up the Croatian striker in the New Year after they missed out on him in the summer, when they sold Romelu Lukaku without really replacing him.

Forward Ibrahimovic, 38, is also now available after announcing that he would leave Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season.

Ince has urged United to put their efforts into signing the Swede, telling Paddy Power: "He'd be great at educating all of these young players that Ole is looking to bring through, an incredible off-pitch influence as well as on the field.

"They need someone who can control the changing room and be a true leader, and he fits that role.

"He can show the young players how it's done. He would be the Godfather of United's dressing room.

"I can't see Mario Mandzukic happening - so why not take Zlatan?"

Ibrahimovic enjoyed a fruitful first spell with United between 2016 and 2018, scoring 29 goals in 53 appearances.
