Preview: Everton vs. Manchester United

Two Premier League ever-presents will begin their respective campaigns when they clash at Goodison Park on Monday night. Sports Mole previews the highly-anticipated encounter.

Manchester United begin their bid to win back the Premier League title with a trip to Everton's Goodison Park on Monday night.

The game comes exactly 120 days on from the side's 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in April, which many people have pinpointed as a pivotal moment in last season's title race.

Including that epic encounter, United have failed to beat the Toffees in five of their last nine meetings home and away.

After concluding this summer's biggest transfer saga by completing his move to the Red Devils on Friday, Robin van Persie is expected to be named among Sir Alex Ferguson's substitutes.

Meanwhile, fellow new arrival Shinji Kagawa could be in line for a place in United's starting XI.

However, the game comes too soon for injured trio Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.

Everton boss David Moyes has a full complement of players to choose from after Marouane Fellaini and Darron Gibson were declared fit.

Summers signings Steven Naismith and Steven Pienaar should both start following impressive displays during pre-season.

Possible lineups:

Everton: Howard; Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Naismith, Fellaini, Gibson, Pienaar; Osman; Jelavic

Man United: De Gea; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Kagawa; Rooney; Welbeck

Sports Mole says: 1-3
