Bruno Fernandes to leave Sporting Lisbon in January?

Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes will leave Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Bruno Fernandes will reportedly leave Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window after failing to secure a summer move away from the club.

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Real Madrid were all strongly linked with moves for the Portugal international during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old ultimately remained with Sporting beyond the transfer deadline, and he has started the 2019-20 campaign in fine form - scoring twice and providing four assists in five appearances for his club.

However, according to O Jogo, Fernandes is expected to leave Portugal in the winter transfer window to make the next step in his career.

United are reportedly unlikely to move for the attacking midfielder, though, with the Red Devils said to be prioritising a swoop for Tottenham's Christian Eriksen.

The Portuguese is contracted to his current club until June 2023, having only signed a new long-term deal last summer.
