Bayern Munich warn Toni Kroos over wage demands

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer warns Toni Kroos against pricing himself out of being able to stay at the club with his wage demands.

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has warned Toni Kroos not to get too greedy over wage demands amid speculation over his future.

Kroos is reported to be holding out for a significant wage rise that would put him among Bayern's highest earners, with Manchester United said to be willing to offer him £250,000 per week.

"You have to make a decision as a club when someone's demands are going through the roof," Beckenbauer is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

"There is not a single player who's worth changing your entire wage structure for. Nobody's indispensable. If the player wants to stay at Bayern, I can only advise him not to overplay his hand."

Kroos's current deal runs out in 2015, and Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer is adamant that the Germany international would not be leaving the club before then.

"Toni has a contract until the summer of 2015 and he will not be going anywhere before then, and we are determined to make sure he will stay at Bayern beyond the expiry date of his current deal. We really value Toni and have shown so more than once," he said.

Kroos was on the scoresheet for Bayern as they took a 2-0 lead in their Champions League last-16 tie with Arsenal on Wednesday.
