Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain was filmed kicking a coach and advertising hoarding during a training session in advance of his side's 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last night. The Argentine grew increasingly frustrated during a training exercise which saw him play as a defender and unsuccessfully attempt to get the ball. After kicking the coach, Higuain was held back by a teammate as they attempted to defuse the situation.

Andy Carroll is likely to be given a place on the bench for Newcastle United's encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail. The 30-year-old rejoined the Magpies on deadline day but has yet to feature as he builds up his match fitness following an ankle operation earlier this year.

Holloway backs Liverpool for title

Ian Holloway has tipped Liverpool to right the wrongs of last season and beat Manchester City to the Premier League title this time around. A hotly-contested battle saw the Reds finish one point behind Pep Guardiola's side in 2018-19 but they have already opened up a five-point gap on their rivals after just five games of this season. "Liverpool are phenomenal," Holloway told talkSPORT. "Can you see them slipping up? I just can't see it. Their back line with Van Dijk, he's like a Rolls Royce. Even Joel Matip looks magnificent next to him. Whoever you put next to Van Dijk is sensational and I think that could be the bearing on this year."

Seven English sides keen on Motherwell youngster?

Bournemouth, Everton, Southampton, Sheffield United, Bristol City, Barnsley and Sunderland are all tracking Motherwell youngster James Scott, according to Team Talk. The 19-year-old, who plays as a winger or a forward, broke into the first team last season and has featured 10 times for the Scottish outfit so far this campaign, contributing three goals.

League One strugglers Southend United are lining up an ambitious move for Celtic legend Henrik Larsson as their new manager following the resignation of Kevin Bond a fortnight ago. The Swede is currently out of work after quitting Helsingborgs last month due to increasing levels of abuse from his own supporters. Southend, meanwhile, are 23rd in League One and have today been issued with another winding-up petition by HMRC.

Billericay Town owner Glenn Tamplin has quit the club just days after he appointed Jamie O'Hara as new manager. The 47-year-old has been dogged by controversy during his three years in charge of the sixth-tier side, including allegations of drug use and a rollercoaster set of managerial appointments. In a statement he said: "After long and lengthy discussions with close friends and family, I have decided now is the time for me to step aside from my role as both owner and director of Billericay at Town FC. It hasn't been an easy decision and not one I have taken lightly but I need to listen to advice from people close to me and now is the appropriate time to move away."

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has said he knows where his side need to improve after they suffered their first defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss to Napoli on Tuesday night. The Reds had the better of the chances in the first half but the game remained goalless until Dries Mertens scored from the spot with eight minutes remaining, before Fernando Llorente added a second in stoppage time. "At home, Napoli are a good side," Henderson told BT Sport. "They are going to create some chances and you've got to be prepared to defend as a team, which I think we did. It's just that last little bit - and, obviously, the mistakes for the goals - we need to improve on. But overall, we can be better, of course. We'll take responsibility, we'll move forward and try and react in the right way."

Paul Pogba's brother Mathias has hinted that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will make a fresh approach for the Manchester United midfielder in the near future. Los Blancos were heavily linked with the Frenchman over the summer but failed to meet United's price tag - said to be more than £175m. "He wanted players, he didn't get them, but I have no doubt that he's going to do the work he needs to do in order to get the team back to the level he wants," Mathias told Radio Marca. "I like Zidane and he likes my brother - everyone knows it."
