Ryan Giggs is not named in the Manchester United squad to face Norwich City, meaning that he will not make his 1,000th career appearance on Saturday.

The 39-year-old was expected to play some part at Old Trafford but he may now have to wait until the Champions League fixture against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has chosen to start both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in attack, with Shinji Kagawa providing support to the strikers.

Chris Hughton has only made one change to his team for the trip to the league leaders, replacing Luciano Becchio with Anthony Pilkington.
