Alexander Buttner is handed his Manchester United debut this afternoon and will start at left-back against Wigan Athletic in place of Patrice Evra.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will hand left-back Alexander Buttner his first-team debut in today's Premier League clash with Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes also starts, making his 700th senior appearance for the Red Devils.

Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck lead the line, with Robin van Persie named among the substitutes.

Meanwhile, Latics boss Roberto Martinez names an unchanged starting XI from the side that drew 2-2 with Stoke City two weeks ago.

Antolin Alcaraz remains on the sidelines with a groin injury. Jean Beausejour has passed a late fitness test.
