Premier League in Numbers: Week 37

Sports Mole looks back over the weekend of Premier League action with a selection of facts and figures.

West Ham United 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur

West Ham's Stewart Downing ended a run of 39 Premier League outings without a goal. Incidentally, his last goal, while playing for Liverpool, was also scored against Spurs.

His effort helped the Hammers to overcome their London rivals for the third time in all competitions this season.

Spurs, meanwhile, have conceded 28 goals from their 19 fixtures away from White Hart Lane.

Aston Villa 3-1 Hull City

Ashley Westwood's first-minute goal was the 1,000th to have been scored at Villa Park during the Premier League era.

His effort set Villa on their way to ending a run of six encounters without a victory.

As for visiting Hull, they have won just one of their previous six matches, losing four of them.

Manchester United 0-1 Sunderland

Match winner Sebastian Larsson had not scored in his last 45 outings for Sunderland prior to his goal against United.

What's more, it allowed the Black Cats to record their first victory at Old Trafford since 1968.

Hosting United have lost seven league home matches for the first time since 1973-74 - a season in which they were relegated.

Newcastle United 3-0 Cardiff City

Only Peter Beardsley and Alan Shearer have scored more Premier League goals for Newcastle than Shola Ameobi, who has found the net 43 times.

Loic Remy also scored for the Magpies, which was the 1,000th goal scored in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Cardiff are the 28th team to have been relegated 12 months after they had been promoted.

Stoke City 4-1 Fulham

After 13 successive seasons in the Premier League, Fulham will be playing their football in the Championship next term.

The four goals that Stoke scored took Fulham's goals against tally for the campaign to 83 from 37 matches.

The win has seen Stoke match their best ever points tally (47) in the Premier League.

Southampton's points tally of 55 is the largest that they have recorded since 1989-90, when they scored the same number.

Only Chelsea (17) have kept more clean sheets than Southampton, who have had 15 shutouts.

As for Swansea, they have won just six of their 19 home encounters at the Liberty Stadium.

Ten of the 14 goals that Romelu Lukaku has scored for Everton this term have come at Goodison Park.

Up the other end, City striker Edin Dzeko took his tally for the campaign to 14 - which matches his best ever return with two matches left to play.

Four points from their final two fixtures will secure a second Premier League title in three seasons for the Citizens.

Arsenal 1-0 West Bromwich Albion

Only Cardiff have recorded fewer victories than West Brom, who have triumphed just seven times from their 36 fixtures.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have guaranteed that they will finish in the top four for the 18th successive season.

Their striker, Olivier Giroud, has scored eight goals in his last seven outings at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea 0-0 Norwich City

Out of their last eight Premier League matches, Jose Mourinho's Chelsea have won just four of them.

The Blues, who needed a goal to maintain their title challenge, managed only one shot on target during the second half.

Norwich have now failed to score in five of their previous six matches.

Crystal Palace 3-3 Liverpool

Liverpool's matches away from Anfield this season have produced a total of 80 goals, a Premier League high.

It was also just the second time that the Reds had thrown away a three-goal advantage in the Premier League era - the first occurred in 2000 against Southampton.

The comeback means that Palace have lost just one of their last seven encounters.
