Manchester United's Robin van Persie 'to be fit for Stoke City clash this weekend'

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is expected to be fit for this weekend's clash against Stoke City after being rested in the Champions League.

Manchester United manager David Moyes is hopeful that striker Robin van Persie will be fit to feature in this weekend's Premier League clash against Stoke City.

The Netherlands international was absent from United's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad last night as a precaution.

However, Moyes believes that the prolific forward could return to his partnership with Wayne Rooney on Saturday.

"I hope he will be fit for the weekend," ESPN quotes Moyes as saying. "He has had a couple of niggling injuries even before he went on international duty. They have all just caught up on him a bit so I thought if I had a chance to give him a breather I would do and fortunately for us it worked out fine."

United are currently eighth in the Premier League table on 11 points.
