Louis van Gaal: 'Manchester United could have won the title this season'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes that his team could have won the Premier League title this season if they had started the campaign better.

Louis van Gaal believes that his Manchester United team could have won the Premier League title this season if it weren't for their "very bad start".

The Red Devils are 15 points behind champions Chelsea with one game left to play before the campaign comes to an end.

United scooped just three league wins in their first 10 games of the season, but they have reached their objective of qualifying for next season's Champions League tournament as they are currently fourth.

"I have received the time of three years to achieve [the title], but of course I want to achieve it as soon as possible," Van Gaal said in this afternoon's press conference.

"We could have won it also this year, I believe. We had a very bad start and because of that, we were behind Manchester City and Chelsea."

United will round off their season on Sunday away to Hull City, who need three points to retain their top-flight status.
