Louis van Gaal: 'Manchester United could have won the Premier League with better start'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes that the Red Devils could have won the Premier League title if they had made a better start to the season.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that his side could have won the Premier League if they had made a better start to the season, but will be happy with a Champions League qualification place come May.

The Red Devils were 10th in the table after 10 matches, having recorded only three wins, but subsequently went on to crack the top four with a run of 16 wins in 23 games.

Van Gaal told BBC Sport: "We had a very bad start. If we'd started well, we could have been the champions.

"I hope we shall achieve our goal for the season and play next season in the Champions League, but it is not done yet."

Man Utd will have four games left to reach their objective after their clash against Everton, with West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Hull City still to play.
