Edwin van der Sar: 'Louis van Gaal will attract players to Manchester United'

Edwin van der Sar believes that Louis van Gaal holds the key ahead of a potentially busy summer transfer window for Manchester United.

Edwin van der Sar has insisted that Louis van Gaal's arrival is key for Manchester United as they attempt to attract players to the club this summer.

Despite not being able to offer their targets Champions League football, Van der Sar believes that the opportunity to work with the Dutch coach will persuade players to turn down the opportunity to join rival clubs.

"Van Gaal will spend the right money on the right player to ensure that they are right for United," the former United goalkeeper is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"He will know if they have the United DNA of the club inside of them. If not he will let them go and let them go to other clubs. You have to play and you have to fight for Manchester United. Not only come for the money.

"What's more important? £20k or £30k more a week or the privilege of playing for a coach like Van Gaal?"

Van der Sar has previously been linked with a role in Van Gaal's backroom staff.
