Alan Shearer: 'Mesut Ozil was not up for Manchester United clash'

Alan Shearer claims that Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil "wasn't up" for the game when his side took on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has claimed that Mesut Ozil "wasn't up" for Arsenal's Premier League visit to Manchester United on Saturday.

The Gunners struggled to find their best form for long spells at Old Trafford, but still managed to come away with a draw courtesy of Olivier Giroud's 89th-minute header.

However, Shearer was unimpressed with the visitors' performance and believes that Ozil in particular was disappointing.

"I didn't think they played well at all, they were very poor for the vast majority of the game. They looked very leggy, very tired, very sloppy," he told BBC Sport.

"Even this guy, Ozil, who has been brilliant for all the season looked really tried, wasn't up for it today and it was mistake after mistake."

The point at Old Trafford leaves Arsenal fourth in the table, three points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
