Paul Scholes: 'Manchester United fans can stop moaning about calibre of players'

Paul Scholes believes that Manchester United fans have no right to "moan" about the squad following the arrivals of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that supporters have no right to "moan" about the calibre of players at Old Trafford following the club's summer spending.

The Red Devils recruited Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Angel di Maria, as well as Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao on transfer deadline day last Monday.

United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has faced his critics, including Scholes, following last season's transfer activity, which resulted in the arrivals of Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata over two transfer windows.

However, Scholes believes that the North-West outfit have made up for their lack of business by bringing in "top quality" players this time around.

"Fans have been moaning about the type of players that were at the club and now you can't do that," Scholes told MUTV. "I think Ed Woodward has done his job brilliantly during this transfer window with some great signings. Now it is over to the manager to sort everything out and make us a good team again."

United are yet to win a competitive fixture under Louis van Gaal, who replaced David Moyes at the helm in May.
